Catching a wild Stackmon is a battle-and-card task, not a menu command. Bring a usable Stack Totem, win the encounter, then drag the Totem onto the unconscious creature.
Player answer

For exact details: Read the Stack Totem recipe and capture prompt shown in your current build; use the four capture steps below regardless of the item recipe.

Bring the capture item before you leave
A Stack Totem is the item shown starting a capture. Put one in your available cards before committing to a wild encounter. If your current recipe book or mission gives a different way to obtain it than an older video, trust the live game: launch patches have already changed recipes and rewards.
Knock out the wild Stackmon first
The Totem is used after the target becomes unconscious. Choose a team that can finish the battle without losing every healthy creature, and bring recovery cards when the route is difficult. Type affinities, equipment and abilities still decide the fight; the Totem does not replace the battle.
Drag the Stack Totem onto the target
Once the wild Stackmon is unconscious, drag the Stack Totem directly onto that creature card. Public launch gameplay from two independent creators shows the same interaction. If nothing happens, release the Totem, confirm the correct target state and try the precise card overlap again before restarting the game.
Check the captured creature before the next fight
After the capture completes, inspect the creature name, type, abilities and any visible attributes in your current build. Do not compare a fresh capture with a trained starter and assume the difference is permanent. Keep the creature available for the next useful task, evolution prompt or Stackpedia entry instead of selling it immediately.
Use achievements to track collection goals
Steam confirms a first-capture achievement plus separate goals for Shiny, Foil, every elemental group, all Stackmon and Stackas. Patch 9.0.87 also adjusted the Catch 30 Stackmons Reward Pack and buffed captured Stackas, but the official note does not publish the new pack contents or exact Stacka values.
If the capture still does not start
Check four things in order: the target is unconscious, the card you are moving is a Stack Totem, the Totem is released directly over the target card and the game is updated. Avoid deleting saves or installing cheat tools for a capture problem. If the interaction repeatedly fails in the current patch, record the route, target and exact prompt before reporting it.
Troubleshooting answers
Common questions
How do you catch a Stackmon?
Knock out a wild Stackmon in battle, then drag a Stack Totem onto the unconscious creature to start the capture.
Why is my Stack Totem not working?
First confirm the target is unconscious and that you are dragging the Totem onto the creature card. If the game shows a different requirement, follow the current prompt rather than an older guide.
What is a Stack Totem used for?
A Stack Totem is the capture item used on an unconscious wild Stackmon.
Is there a guaranteed capture recipe?
Check the live Stack Totem recipe in your build. The capture step stays the same: knock out the target, then drag the Totem onto that creature card.
Does catching Stackmon unlock achievements?
Yes. Steam lists achievements for the first Stackmon, first Shiny and Foil captures, type collections, all Stackmon and the first or all Stackas.
